(OS CATALEPTICOS/SICK SICK SINNERS)

                   VLAD- Voice/Guitar

1-Please give us a little biography

My name is Vladimir Urban, born and raised in Curitiba, Brazil. I start to get interest in music pretty soon, my parents always liked music so it was easy to get in to it. My first band was when i have something like 14 or 15 years old, something like punk, but then i start to listen some bands like The Cramps, Stray Cats, Toy Dolls, The Meteors... So i start my first psychobilly band with some friends. The name of the band was Os Escroques, shortly after we split and i form with the singer of the band os Cervejas (1989). With os Cervejas we played like hell and we had 2 videos on the brazilian MTV, with great time lots of trips around Brazil. Os Cervejas never broke up but we stoped to play often cuz me and Gus formed Os Catalépticos who take a lot of time of my life. With Os Catalépticos we played all around brazil, recorded some records, we did some tours in Europe and Usa. Os Catalépticos played for 10 years and we had a blast all this time. Everything good has an ending heheheh and then me and Mutant Cox ex-Os Catalépticos drummer formed the Sick Sick Sinners, we already played in Uruguay, Argentina and Usa and of couser some places in Brazil, right now we are recording our first album that are sounding fucking cool!

2-Why do you choose psychobilly?

It was really natural, I used to listen some punk, some brazilian rock´n´roll, some rockabilly when the i listened the first time the song the way I walk by The Cramps and Human Fly i said FUCK this is what i wanna do !!! and since then ive been doing it.

3-How are you involved in this scene?

Well, today i have a psychobilly record label, i do one big psychobilly festival in brazil, i used to do fanzines about it and radio program, and i play in the 66sinners ... psychobilly is my life, my way of life.

4-What is the first ever psychobilly band  in your mind?

It´s strange cuz the in the start The Cramps was consider a psychobilly band, but it developed in a diferent way so The Cramps become more rocknroll/garage and  the rest of the psychobilly bands satart to play it more punk/metal/rockabilly... what ever... So the first reference to me was The Cramps but today ... I don´t know, maybe Batmobile, Demented are Go or The Meteors are this references today.

5-Do you have any material, how do this work?

Yeahh we sell t-shirts, our 2 Sick Sick Sinners demos, the Funeral Music releases... this kind of stuff

6-How's the scene in your area?

We have lots of Psychobilly bands here in Curitiba, i think something like 5 or 6, and sometime we play a lot, but used to have more public, maybe soon it will get back. We hope so at least. But fr the psycho carnival is amazing how manny people come from other towns for it!

7-There are a lot of very important Psychobilly bands in Brazil, but which bands are  the most influential?

In the beguining i was very influeced by a local band called Os Missionários, one of my bigest influense in my music, it´s sad that they have not much recorded in the early years 86,87 when they used  to play psychobilly. The bands from São Paulo, Kães Vadius and K´Billys were big influence to my music aswell.

8-How much do you know about the Latinamerican Psychobilly scene?

I don´t know much about the Latin America Psychobilly scene. For long time i used to belive that there wans´t psychobilly in America Latina, I´ve only heard about the Rockabilly scene in Argentina, but then, by the internet i start to her about the Chile psychobilly and some other places, playing in Uruguay and in Argentina with the 66Sinners changed my mind about it.

9-PSYCHOBILLY with "contrabajo" or without "contrabajo" tell us (upright bass)?

With and without! There´s only 3 rules in psychobilly, no politics, no religion, dance with a chainsaw! Paul Fennech already said that... the rest is no rules!

Personaly i prefer upright bass(contrabajo), but this is personal, if it fits good with the E-Bass, you don´t need to change... it´s a metter of taste

10-What inspires you to write your lyrics?

It depends, theres movies that inspires me, theres true facts, theres my life, my personal feelings and taste, than if it´s something that is personal it´s even easier to write. I prefer wirte bout real things than zombies or living dead... just if you can add some hummor on it... than it´s cool.

11-What do you think about file sharing Is that something that bothers you?

this is something that always happened, with tapes, then with CDRs and now with file sharing...I don´t like bootleg material this is shitty, but file sharing it´s something that came to stay doesn´t metter what i think about it.
